My Quick Review and Thoughts:
An interesting mystery thriller. A slow pace drama that mixes a classic sense of what’s the truth? What is the mystery? What is the ultimate answers? Written by a wonderful story teller. One of my favorite modern writers. Gillian Flynn always captures thick plots and character development that lingers. The movie is a dark scaled drama thriller with great acting. Rosamund Pike is extraordinary in the part. The only real problem I had with it was the reality of it being a little farfetched and non-logical in the sense of it being rational or reality based. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad movie, but it's one of those films I probably will never return to again. It left me with the sense of what was the purpose of the film. Or simply put I was like Okay is that it. I liked the book but sadly it's unique and tight feel of mystery did not seem to transcend into film form. One thing with the film was the characters or at least the lack of emotional appeal of their cardboard personas. I loved certain moments of the film. It had its shock appeal as the book did in certain moments. The pace of the film just felt dull and boring. Some will like. Most might love but it was just odd to me. It didn't feel right. Directed by of my favorite directors who is a visionary talent at capturing film perfection? It has all his trademarks, dark, and greyscale reality. The story I love. The book I love but the film just felt really long, drawn out, slow and unappealing.
